I'm not surprised that Parson was arrested, since the majority of the town are loyal to the party and Big Brother. When Parson's daughter told on her own father, she was just being a good citizen like she was raised. Parson wasn't surprised when his daughter told on him for Thoughtcrime because that's what his daughter learned from her parents. I think that if I was raised like that, I'd do the same thing cause that's the "right" thing to do.
