Book 3 Chaper 1

I'm not surprised that Parson was arrested, since the majority of the town are loyal to the party and Big Brother. When Parson's daughter told on her own father, she was just being a good citizen like she was raised. Parson wasn't surprised when his daughter told on him for Thoughtcrime because that's what his daughter learned from her parents. I think that if I was raised like that, I'd do the same thing cause that's the "right" thing to do.

Chapter 5

When Winston ratted out on Julia by giving her name while being tortured, in order to stop the torture, I think he was being a coward. On the other hand, I can understand why he did that. When fear comes into place, you don't bother to think or concentrate on what's going on and just say whatever the person wants. I bet it's happened atleast once to everyone in their life. Winston was just afraid of the rats that O'Brien put in the cage and wanted to get out as soon as possible, so he blamed Julia. I can see me doing that if I was that terrified, but if Winston really loved Julia, he wouldn't have yelled out her name. With him being a coward, he gave in too easily. He ratted on his lover and didn't bother to think of someone elses name to say instead of hers. He could have covered it up somehow. It just shows how weak he really is.

Capter 1 Question 2

"BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU," to me means that no matter what you do, someone is watching you somewhere. It can be a friend, family member or even a stranger. No one is ever alone in the world and there will always be someone guiding you even when you think there isn't. People think that they are alone sometimes, but at those moments, that person can think of someone in their head even if its not intentionally. For example; God, he supposively watches over everyone and people look towards him for guidence, so they aren't alone.

Chapter 1 Question 1

Orwell has made up the telescreen in his novel, when Winston is watched every second. There is no privacy for him or freedom of speech. In the world today, it's not that bad, but people dont get the privacy they need at times. Apparently, the governments has the power to hack phone lines to citizens they think are "suspicious" when they aren't doing anything wrong. There's also the FBI. The FBI basically stalks people and watches them 25/7. It's a creepy thought when you think about it. The world Orwell visioned is somewhat like how the world is becoming today.
